There were originally two goldfish, called “Alfred”, and “The Cakes” – my father’s family are from the south of England, where a certain culinary disaster involving the king of Wessex is well remembered. Additionally, Alfred was pure gold, while The Cakes had some black splodges …
Love the names!
I had two goldfish who were rather predictably Fish and Chips. A singleton goldfish was called Casserole as he lived in a pyrex dish until a suitable home was bought for him.
Re: cats. What about Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. They were always fighting – admittedly not each other though.
