Awakening memories
Last one from the Reserve Collection – a Fieseler Storch – renowned for its ability to take off and land in small spaces. I recall building an Airfix model of this aircraft (or, in fact, one very like it). In flight, the undercarriage legs are much longer, making the name Stork highly appropriate:

I think that this one’s a Provost (from the Reserve Collection at the National Museum of Flight (Scotland)):
Photoblog
In the absence of anything to write, I thought that I might post some of the photos I took last week-end. Here’s a Tiger Moth:
Outing
A day at the Museum of Flight (son and me). One of the things I like about this place is the atmosphere – it was an airfield during World Wars I and II. It does feel a little ghostly sometimes:
Sunshine
At lunchtime to-day, I was actually sitting on a bench in The Meadows, Edinburgh; a little cold, but pleasant. Some of us were here, 20 months ago.
One of the saddest places I have ever been
But God showed particular kindness to me, finding me a seat beside the teachers from the little girl’s school – the headmistress spoke to our daughter at lunchtime, telling her that she’d seen her dad at the funeral.
The service was a celebration of the little girl’s life. We heard a recording of her class singing “You are my sunshine”; the service ended with a recording of the girl herself singing a song. It was heartbreaking.
Surely, she is now in a better place; surely, Jesus is caring for her; surely we do not believe that death (whether of a child, or of someone who has lived a long life) is the end.
Contrary thoughts
To-morrow is the funeral. We’ve been asked to wear bright clothes. In a way I can understand, and in a way I don’t.
Life is a bit of a grind these days. The big downer is still work – I just don’t really know if I’m coping. And then there is a general lack of time. But yesterday saw a determined onslaught on my in-tray, which I emptied (briefly, until I started looking through the pending tray, and discovered several things which really belonged in the in-tray).
Prayers always appreciated …
